With 11,500 employees worldwide, AVL is the world's largest independent company for the development, simulation and testing of powertrain systems (hybrid, combustion engine, transmission, electric drive, batteries, fuel cell and control technology) for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, construction, large engines and their integration into the vehicle.

Connected vehicles are the driving force of many mobility innovations for improved efficiency, comfort and safety. The communication between modern vehicles and other systems like Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Road (V2R), Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) and Vehicle to the Internet / Cloud / Backend Infrastructures exposes them to different new and additional attack vectors. To understand and to gain knowhow about how typical attackers work is a key element for building secure vehicles design and architecture.

We offer a Diploma Thesis:

Automotive Security – Automotive Honeypot

  • Define a typical basic vehicle architecture that can be implemented as a honeypot / real world model
  • Define an observation concept that enables the analysis of real-world attacks on the honeypot.
  • Implement the honeypot (physical and/or virtual/simulated)
  • Connect the honeypot to the internet and observe ongoing attacks
